CaixaForum, the social and cultural centre of "la Caixa" charitable foundation, is located in one of Barcelona's outstanding Modernist buildings. It was first a one-of-a-kind textile factory commissioned to be built at the foot of Montjuïc Mountain by architect Josep Puig i Cadafalch, one of the three Catalan architects (along with Lluís Domènec i Montaner and Antoni Gaudí) most representative of Modernism. The building is a unique work of the early 20th-century Catalan Modernist industrial architecture. CaixaForum has become one of the most dynamic and active cultural centres in the city, where you can visit temporary exhibitions of ancient, modern and contemporary art.
